Pomra Treatment Plant Connection Expected to Solve Long-Standing Water Crisis

3 August, Monday: The process to provide a dedicated water connection line from Chittagong WASA to Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) is set to begin shortly. On August 3, Monday, CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem, alongside representatives from Chittagong WASA, inspected potential sites for the water pipeline installation on campus.
Prior to the site visit, a coordination meeting took place between CUET administration and WASA officials at the Vice-Chancellor's office. The meeting was attended by Dean of Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty Professor Dr. Asiful Hoque, Civil Engineering Professor Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal, Executive Engineer of CUET Planning and Development Directorate Md. Shahadat Hossain Asif, Executive Engineer (Civil) Muhammad Ferdausul Kabir, Executive Engineer of Mohra Water Treatment Plant Sajib Barua, and Executive Engineer of Karnafuli Water Treatment Plant-1 Md. Omar Faruk.
The water connection will be sourced from the Chittagong WASA treatment plant located in Pomra, Rangunia, situated near the CUET campus. Once operational, the pipeline is expected to offer a sustainable solution to the long-standing water supply challenges faced by the university. Providing a clean water connection at CUET has been a key demand of students and faculty members, with both institutions working actively toward its realization.
