Education Minister Urges Youth to Master AI, Robotics, and Semiconductors

In a major drive to revolutionize technical and technological education across the country, Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced that the government will establish four new polytechnic institutes and four engineering colleges.
The Minister made the announcement today, Saturday (August 1), while addressing as the chief guest at a memorial discussion and merit reception ceremony held at the Dhaka Polytechnic Institute premises to commemorate the July Mass Uprising.
Urging the youth to embrace futuristic engineering tools, the Education Minister stated, "Instead of merely hunting for traditional jobs, students must equip themselves with modern skill sets in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Mechatronics, Electric Vehicles (EV), Semiconductor design, and Cyber Security. Our youth should transform into tech entrepreneurs and job creators rather than job seekers."
Aligning with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's vision for technical transformation, Dr. Milon revealed plans to develop Dhaka Polytechnic Institute into a state-of-the-art 'Center of Excellence' under a joint Bangladesh-China collaboration. He also pledged dedicated BRTC transport buses for students, with broader transport projects planned for polytechnics nationwide.
Presided over by Md. Mustafizur Rahman Khan, Principal of Dhaka Government Polytechnic Institute, the event featured special remarks from Sanjida Islam Tuli, MP (Reserved Seat); Abul Khair Md. Akkas Ali, Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education; Prof. Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, DG of DSHE; and Engr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Chairman of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Central Chhatra Dal President Md. Rakibul Islam Rakib addressed the audience as the key speaker.
During the ceremony, the Minister presented crests of honor to the families of July Uprising martyrs—Hamidur Rahman Mazumder (Sadman) of CCN Polytechnic and Samid Hossain of Kishoreganj Government Polytechnic—and conferred ceremonial sashes upon injured students.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Milon virtually joined the 'Orientation-2026' program at Islamic University, Kushtia, as the chief guest. Presided over by IU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A K M Matinur Rahman, the Minister reiterated his commitment to transforming Islamic University into an international-standard 'Center of Excellence' for research and higher education.
