Winners of National IT Contest for Youth with Disabilities Bound for Vietnam
No Talent Will Be Stopped by Disability: ICT Minister
- 12 winners across 4 categories awarded at the 10th National IT Competition for Youth with Disabilities
- 4 National Champions secure spots for the upcoming Global IT Challenge (GITC) in Vietnam this October
- Event jointly organized by BCC, CSID, and UAP at University of Asia Pacific’s Green Road campus
“Our goal is to build a Bangladesh where no talent is held back due to disabilities. By harnessing the power of technology, every citizen will become an equal partner in the nation's progress,” stated Fakir Mahbub Anam, Minister for Posts, Telecommunications & IT, and Science & Technology. He was speaking as the chief guest today, 1 August, Saturday, at the closing and award presentation ceremony of the "National IT Competition for Youth with Disabilities 2026" held at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) campus on Green Road, Dhaka.
The Minister emphasized that disability is not a limitation. With proper training and technological empowerment, youth with disabilities can actively drive the nation's digital transformation. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is committed to ensuring equal technological opportunities across all segments of society, he added.
Four Champions Heading to Global IT Challenge in Vietnam
Marking its 10th edition, the national contest featured 70 participants competing across four categories: Visual Impairment (21), Physical Disability (25), Speech & Hearing Impairment (15), and Neurodevelopmental Disorders/NDD (09). The top three performers in each category—totaling 12 participants—were honored with awards.
The four national champions who qualified to represent Bangladesh at the upcoming 'Global IT Competition for Youth with Disabilities' (GITC) in Vietnam this October are:
- Visual Impairment Category: Md. Shakil Mia
- Physical Disability Category: Sheikh Yamin Ahsan
- Speech & Hearing Impairment Category: Nahin Siraj
- Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD) Category: Aryan Islam
Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam personally assured full support to all four global qualifiers for their upcoming international participation.
Presiding over the ceremony, Nahid Sultana Mallik, Executive Director of the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), highlighted that the platform nurtures technical skills and creativity. She confirmed that joint initiatives by BCC, Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID), and UAP will continue to expand this initiative to transform youth with disabilities into skilled IT human resources.
The event also featured addresses by Khandakar Johurul Alam, Executive Director of CSID; Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UAP; and K M Mujibul Haq, Chairperson of the UAP Board of Trustees, alongside guardians and senior government officials.
