The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) examination scheduled for Saturday, 11 July, has been postponed in five districts under the Chattogram Education Board due to worsening flood conditions. The authorities have also postponed the Alim English Second Paper and the Technical Board's Accounting Principles and Applications-II examination in the affected areas.
The decision was announced on Friday (10 July) by the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee. Separate notices were also issued by the Chattogram Education Board, Madrasah Education Board, and Technical Education Board.
According to a notice signed by Chattogram Education Board Controller of Examinations Professor Dr. Parvez Sajjad, severe weather, flooding, and widespread power outages made it impossible to conduct the ICT (Subject Code: 275) examination safely. Examination centres have been instructed to inform candidates through public announcements where electricity and digital communication remain disrupted.
A separate emergency notification signed by Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, confirmed that HSC, Alim, HSC (BMT), HSC (Vocational), and Diploma in Commerce examinations under the Chattogram Board in the affected districts have also been postponed.
However, examinations under the remaining eight education boards, along with Madrasah and Technical Education Boards outside the affected Chattogram districts, will proceed according to the original schedule.
The HSC and equivalent examinations began on 2 July, with more than 1.27 million candidates registered nationwide. Revised dates for the postponed examinations will be announced later.
