Bangladesh's Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has approved the implementation of the Khan Academy Bangladesh initiative in 100 secondary schools across seven districts to strengthen mathematics teaching through digital technology.

The one-year program, running until June 30, 2027, will be implemented with financial and technical support from Sajida Foundation. The selected districts include Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Chandpur, Cumilla and Panchagarh.

The initiative aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes, reduce math anxiety, and modernize classroom instruction by integrating the Khan Academy Bangladesh platform with digital learning resources.

According to the DSHE directive, the project includes specialized teacher training, effective integration of the Khan Academy platform into classroom learning, deployment of required digital devices and technical support, student learning workshops, and monthly monitoring with progress reporting.

The approval also sets several implementation conditions. School selection must be coordinated through district and upazila education authorities and receive final DSHE approval. Regular classroom instruction must not be disrupted, and all activities must remain consistent with national values and regulations.

Any project modification, extension, or revision will require prior approval from DSHE. Officials at the upazila, district, regional, and national levels will oversee implementation, while quarterly and annual progress reports must be submitted to the department.

Education technology experts say the initiative reflects a growing emphasis on adaptive learning platforms, data-driven instruction, and digital teacher support tools, which can significantly enhance mathematics education outcomes in Bangladesh's secondary schools.
