Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) celebrated its 23rd University Day on Thursday, October 30, with a day-long program featuring flag hoisting, balloon releases, and peace-dove ceremonies. The occasion was marked by a vibrant rally across the campus, attended by faculty, staff, and students carrying colorful placards and festoons.

The day’s program commenced with a balloon release in front of Administrative Building-2, inaugurated by ASM Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land. In the afternoon, he addressed a discussion session at CUET’s central auditorium, highlighting the importance of technology-driven development:
“The world today faces numerous challenges, one of the foremost being the rapid pace of technological change. Keeping up with this transformation is a major challenge. Engineers and technologists have a crucial role to play in addressing it. For the development and progress of our nation, we must become more technology-oriented. I firmly believe that through you, these challenges can be successfully overcome. I expect you to serve the country not only as skilled engineers or technologists but also as honest, professional, patriotic, and humane citizens.”

Guests of Honor included CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya and Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Nakeeb.

Special guests at the event were Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong; Deans of various faculties including Professors Dr. Kazi Delowar Hossain, Dr. Asiful Haque, Dr. A.H. In his address, CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya said:
“CUET is advancing rapidly toward modernization. Despite many challenges, we are strengthening our digital services and building modern research laboratories. Through smart campus initiatives, we aim to position CUET as a world-class university. Our goal is to create an educational environment where knowledge, innovation, and humanity are interwoven.”

Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Nakeeb added:
“The world is changing at an unprecedented pace. We have entered the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. While these technologies are discussed extensively, their practical implementation remains limited. The time has come to rapidly master these skills and apply them in real life; otherwise, we risk falling behind in the technological race.”

The 23rd University Day at CUET showcased not only academic and extracurricular achievements but also the university’s commitment to nurturing competent, responsible, and forward-looking technologists for the nation.
