Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Science and Technology Faqir Mahbub Anam has expressed optimism that nuclear power will be connected to Bangladesh’s national grid by the end of comong August.

He also announced that work on the government's proposed "One ID" project will begin soon under the Prime Minister’s directive. The initiative aims to create a unified digital identity system that will store a citizen’s information from birth to death.

The minister made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking with ICT and telecommunications journalists at the ICT Tower in Agargaon, Dhaka.

He said the government is committed to completing inherited development projects efficiently while ensuring that public funds are not wasted. As part of that effort, uranium has already been loaded into the reactor of the country's nuclear power plant following his assumption of office.

He said, “If everything goes on as per planning, nuclear power will be connected to Bangladesh’s national grid by the end of comong August, in sha Allah.”

Fakir Mahbub Anam further said that the government is moving ahead with the implementation of the "One ID" system to better integrate and streamline digital public services.

According to him, the unified identification system will maintain all essential information of a citizen—from birth to death—on a single platform, enabling more efficient, coordinated, and accessible delivery of various government services.
