BSCL Clears Four Years of Outstanding Tax

Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has paid Tk 291.5 million in outstanding income tax liabilities accumulated during its first four fiscal years of operation.

The payment covers fiscal years 2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21 and 2021–22 and was completed in June of the current fiscal year.

According to the company, the current management reviewed BSCL’s financial administration after taking responsibility and initiated steps to resolve long-standing liabilities.

BSCL said the settlement is intended to reinforce financial discipline, improve accountability and strengthen the company’s institutional financial foundation.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Imadur Rahman said, “Since assuming responsibility, we have prioritised transparency and discipline in BSCL’s financial management. We have taken phased initiatives to resolve outstanding financial obligations inherited from previous periods.”

He added, “Settlement of unpaid income tax for four fiscal years is an important part of that process. Our objective is not only financial performance but also building BSCL as an accountable, sustainable and governance-oriented institution.”

According to the company’s financial report, BSCL became profitable for the first time as a state-owned enterprise in fiscal year 2024–25.

During the fiscal year, total revenue reached Tk 2.4513 billion while total expenditure stood at Tk 2.0677 billion, resulting in a net profit of Tk 383.5 million.

The performance is being viewed as an indicator of improving financial management and operational efficiency within Bangladesh’s technology-driven public sector institutions.
