OTT Launch Lights Up With ‘Prince’ and ‘Rakshas’ Streaming Premiere
Two much-discussed films, Prince and Rakshas, are set to premiere on two OTT platforms on 21 May. The films will also mark the debut of the new OTT platform Utsab.
According to Utsab Chief Executive Officer Zahid Hasan Abhi, the platform will initially provide subscription-based services through its website. Later, it will expand to Android and iOS apps as well as various smart TV platforms.
He said that Utsab will begin its journey with nearly 100 films, series, and web films, including both new and old titles.
Alongside Utsab, both Prince and Rakshas will also be available for streaming on iScreen.
Starring Shakib Khan, Prince has been directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud. The film features Tasnia Farin and Kolkata actress Jyotirmoyee Kundu opposite him. Although the film generated strong audience interest following its Eid release, many viewers were unable to properly enjoy it in theaters due to DCP and server-related complications.
The production company said that the film’s digital version has been newly prepared ahead of the OTT release. Complaints related to sound, color grading, and VFX have been addressed, and the film has been upgraded for a better viewing experience. As a result, audiences will now be able to watch a more complete version of Prince.
Meanwhile, one of the most discussed and critically praised films of Eid, Rakshas, has been directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy. Earlier, he gained attention after directing the industry hit Borbaad. According to the filmmaker, Rakshas is essentially part of the “Borbaad Universe”.
The romantic action-thriller stars Siam Ahmed in the lead role opposite Kolkata actress Sushmita Chatterjee. The cast also includes Ali Raj, Sohel Mondol, and several others. Bollywood actress Natalia Janoszek has also appeared in a special song in the film.
Through Rakshas, audiences have rediscovered Siam Ahmed as a fully action-oriented hero. The film is still being screened in various international venues abroad. They said the OTT release is aimed at bringing the film to a wider audience.
