Cox’s Bazar Airport and Cox’s Bazar Railway Station Public Wi-Fi Comes Under Quality Check
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, accompanied by the Prime Minister’s Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, inspected the free Wi-Fi services installed at Cox’s Bazar Airport and the railway station. During a visit to the country’s tourism capital on 11 April, Saturday, the minister reviewed the quality, speed, and user experience of the recently launched high-speed public internet service.
After hearing feedback from users, the minister provided necessary directives to the concerned officials. Fakir Mahbub Anam said that, in line with the Prime Minister’s commitment, free Wi-Fi services have been introduced at several key airports, railway stations, and on trains across the country. Through this initiative, both domestic and international passengers and tourists will be able to easily access internet services.
Highlighting the implementation of the Prime Minister’s pledge, Adviser Rehan Asif Asad said that free Wi-Fi services will be expanded across the country in phases. He noted that Cox's Bazar is an international tourist city that receives a large number of local and foreign visitors daily. To ensure their convenience, safety, and digital connectivity, plans are underway to bring more tourist spots under the free Wi-Fi network. He added that, InshaAllah, the service will be gradually expanded across Cox’s Bazar and the entire country so that both the general public and tourists can easily benefit from digital services.
Following the inspection, the minister and the adviser planted tree saplings at the railway station premises. Also present at the time were Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division Abdun Naser Khan, Managing Director of Bangladesh Satellite Company Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman, Director General of the Department of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam, Managing Director of Bangladesh Submarine Cable PLC Md. Aslam Hossain, along with officials from Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited and other departments and agencies.
