Smart Voting System:
EC Rolls Out App and Hotline for Voter Info Ahead of Polls in Sherpur-3 and Bogura-6
Voting for the postponed general election in Sherpur-3 constituency, delayed due to the death of a candidate, and the by-election in Bogura-6 constituency vacated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, will begin at 7:30 am on April 9 and continue until 4:30 pm.
Although postal ballots are available, Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed stated that, following a “Yes” victory in the referendum held during the parliamentary election, such voting will not be required in Sherpur-3 constituency.
Ahead of the polls, the Election Commission has introduced two convenient methods to help voters access their voter number and polling center information. Through a mobile app and hotline service, voters can quickly and accurately obtain their voter number, polling center name, and address.
In this regard, voters can use the Smart Election Management BD app to access their voter number and polling center details. To do so, voters need to download and install the app from the Play Store or App Store. After installation, they must select “Thirteenth National Parliament Election” from the dashboard and click on the “Find Polling Center” option. By entering their National ID (NID) number and date of birth, the system will display the voter number, serial number, polling center name, and address.
Additionally, any voter in Bangladesh can call the hotline number 105 to obtain voter number and polling center information. To use this service, voters must provide their NID number and date of birth.
According to the latest report, three candidates are contesting in Sherpur-3 constituency: Md. Mahmudul Haque Rubel of BNP, Md. Masudur Rahman Masud of Jamaat-e-Islami, and Md. Mizanur Rahman of Basad (Marxist). In the Bogura-6 by-election, the candidates are Md. Rezaul Karim Badsha of BNP, Md. Abidur Rahman of Jamaat-e-Islami, and Md. Al-Amin Talukdar of Bangladesh Development Party.
