Ivy Road, the studio behind the popular video game Wanderstop, is set to shut down. According to an announcement, the company will cease operations from 31 March. The news was reported by Engadget.

Although Wanderstop, developed with funding from Annapurna Interactive, received critical acclaim, it failed to sustain the studio. The company was unable to secure investment and publishing support for its new game Engine Angel. Earlier in January this year, Ivy Road had already laid off five employees.

The studio stated that, before closing, it would offer a final surprise to bring Wanderstop to new players. However, details of the surprise were not disclosed immediately. Annapurna Interactive is expected to provide further information later.

Wanderstop tells the story of Alta, a former warrior who runs a tea shop in a magical forest. Players can gather ingredients to brew tea, organize the shop, interact with customers and listen to their stories, or simply sit on a bench and spend time reflecting. The game’s calm, emotional, and serene theme earned widespread praise following its release.

Despite the closure of Ivy Road, the game will remain available for purchase and play.
