An orientation program for the 25th batch of the “Fundamental Training on Dermatology” course, organized by the Dermatology Foundation of Bangladesh, was held at Panthapath in the capital. Under the supervision of dermatology specialists, trainees received foundational training from expert mentors on skin assessment, laser treatment, microneedling, PRP, and chemical peeling.
The workshop took place on Friday morning, March 27, at the Aurora Skin and Aesthetics auditorium in Ena Shakur Emarat, Panthapath.
Professor Dr. Syed Afzalul Karim, proprietor of Aurora Skin and Aesthetics, attended the event as the chief guest. Special guests and speakers included Professor Aminul Islam, Professor M A Abdul Wahab, Dr. Sabbir Hossain, A N M Humayun Kabir of Square Pharmaceuticals, and M M Zahidur Rahman Biplob, Founder and Chief Coordinator of “Amra Nari” and “Amra Nari Research and Development.”
In his address, Professor Dr. Syed Afzalul Karim stated that the skin is the largest organ of the human body, protecting it from harmful external environmental effects. He emphasized that the importance of skin and aesthetics lies not only in treating diseases but also in ensuring overall skin care and boosting self-confidence. He added that proper and specialized training would make dermatological healthcare services more effective and patient-friendly.
Speakers highlighted the importance of skin care in modern medical practice and stressed the need for specialized training for physicians in this field. They noted that with proper skill development, dermatological treatment services in the country could be elevated to international standards.
It is noteworthy that Aurora Skin and Aesthetics pioneered a new horizon in treatment in Bangladesh by introducing ‘Non-cultured melanocyte transfer surgery’ for vitiligo for the first time in the country in 2013, through a coordinated team of skilled dermatologists, nutritionists, and plastic surgeons in the treatment of skin, hair, nail, and sexually transmitted diseases.
