Bangladesh, Japan Eye Creative Collaboration in Animation and Social Business

Bangladesh and Japan are set to work together by integrating creativity, technology, and social business. Japan’s Yoshimoto Kogyo Holdings, an organization engaged in promoting human happiness and prosperity through Japanese-style comedy, has expressed interest in collaborating with Bangladesh’s Yunus Centre in sectors such as animation, graphic novels (manga), gaming, and digital education.

Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus held a productive breakfast meeting with Hiroshi Osaki, former Chairman of Yoshimoto Kogyo Holdings, in Tokyo on Thursday morning, March 26 (local time). The discussion focused on how to create new opportunities for young people through the integration of creativity, technology, and social business. Also present at the meeting were Naoya Shiraishi, Secretary General of an innovative online high school in Japan; Yoshiaki Nakamichi of WIC; renowned game developer Oji Hiroi; and skilled anime character designer Masahiro Nakayama.

According to the Yunus Centre, the meeting included discussions on applying social business models to animation and the broader creative industries. The delegation expressed strong interest in potential joint initiatives with Grameen Social Business to promote inclusive growth and innovation. Opportunities for collaboration in areas such as skill development, training, creative production, and digital education were also explored. A key focus of the meeting was enhancing the skills of Bangladeshi youth to enable their participation in the global animation industry.

The representatives noted that with proper training and support, Bangladeshi youth could make competitive contributions to the international creative market. They expressed keen interest in creating global opportunities for Bangladeshi young people in animation and digital content creation. Additionally, they আশা expressed hope to visit Bangladesh soon to assess grassroots-level opportunities and develop a roadmap for implementing social business initiatives in the creative sector.

It is noteworthy that Hiroshi Osaki also serves as the Representative Director of the Yunus-Yoshimoto Social Action Group.
