Stamping Sovereignty: PM Tarique Rahman Unveils Independence Day Commemoratives

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has inaugurated a commemorative postage stamp worth 10 taka, a first-day cover worth 10 taka, a data card worth 5 taka, and a special seal issued by Bangladesh Post to mark the Great Independence and National Day.

On Wednesday morning, March 25, the Prime Minister signed the commemorative stamp and the first-day cover at his office in the Secretariat. Present at the time were Fakir Mahbub Anam, Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology; Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Abdun Naser Khan; and Director General of Bangladesh Post Kazi Asadul Islam.

After signing the commemorative stamp and data card and affixing the special seal, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman placed them in envelopes, then handed them over to Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam and made them available for public release. 

Later, Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Atikur Rahman Rumon, said that the Prime Minister arrived at the Secretariat at 9:02 am and completed several official tasks before unveiling the stamps. He is scheduled to hold a meeting on measures to address the energy situation, followed by discussions with the Home Minister, the Defense Adviser, and the Chief of Army Staff. Another meeting will be held at 1:30 pm to determine steps for the modernization of the silk industry. At 2:30 pm, the Prime Minister will meet with the Minister and State Minister of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Finally, a Cabinet meeting is scheduled at 4:30 pm. Although this meeting is usually held on Thursdays, it has been brought forward this time in observance of Independence and National Day.
