New Board Formed for Bangladesh Journalists’ Welfare Trust
A new Board of Trustees has been formed for the Bangladesh Journalists’ Welfare Trust. For a three-year term, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury will serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, while the Information Secretary will perform the দায়িত্ব of Vice Chairman.
The 13-member committee was constituted through a notification issued on Wednesday, 11 March, signed by Khadija Tahera Bobi, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Members of the committee include the Principal Information Officer; Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Md. Zahidul Islam Rony; an official of at least Joint Secretary rank nominated by the Finance Division; the Director General of the Press Institute of Bangladesh; the Joint Secretary (Press) of the Ministry of Information; News Editor of Samakal Anwarul Kabir Bulu; Special Correspondent of Desh Rupantor Md. Rezaul Karim (Lablu); former Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Manoj Roy; former City Editor of Bangladesher Khabor Kawsar Hossain Khondkar; and General Secretary of the Bogura Press Club Md. Abul Kalam Azad (Kalam Azad).
Additionally, the Managing Director of the Bangladesh Journalists’ Welfare Trust will serve as Member Secretary of the board.
Earlier on Tuesday (10 March), senior journalist Bashir Jamal was appointed as the Managing Director of the Welfare Trust.
