Farmer Card to Foster Fair and Fast Farm Support
To improve the standard of living of farmers and to make the agricultural incentive distribution process more transparent and modern, a Farmer Card is being introduced with the aim of ensuring maximum use of technology. A meeting on the initiative was held at the Cabinet Division conference room, presided over by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Chaired by the Prime Minister as the chief guest, the meeting on the launch of the “Farmer Card” took place on Monday afternoon, February 23. Detailed discussions were held on introducing the card to enhance facilities for marginal farmers across the country and to make the distribution of agricultural incentives more transparent and modern.
According to meeting sources, the Prime Minister emphasized the identification of genuine farmers and ensuring direct delivery of government services to them.
Agriculture is the main driving force of the country’s economy. Therefore, it is essential to ensure maximum use of technology to improve farmers’ living standards. The smart card system is being introduced to reduce the dominance of middlemen and to ensure that farmers can easily receive their fair dues and government subsidies.
Ministers, state ministers, and senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, they presented the technical aspects of the Farmer Card, the distribution process, and the progress of database development before the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister provided necessary directives to the concerned authorities to implement the program at the field level as quickly as possible.
