Border Buzz Over ‘Robot Dog’ Sighting in Kurigram
A mysterious object resembling a robotic dog has sparked curiosity and concern in a border-adjacent area of Kurigram’s Bhurungamari upazela.
The unusual scene was captured on CCTV footage at 3:35am on Monday, February 16, at “Alauddin Hardware,” a shop located in Miloni Bazar under Boldia Union—approximately two kilometers inside the Bangladeshi territory from the Indian border.
The matter came to light around 9:30pm on Tuesday, February 17, when shop owner Roknuzzaman and his brother Nazmul Hossain were reviewing CCTV footage in connection with a theft incident. While examining the recordings, they noticed the strange robot dog-like object moving in the area.
The footage, recorded by a CCTV camera installed at the hardware store in the border-adjacent market, later spread across social media, creating widespread curiosity in the locality.
Kuddus Mia, a resident of the Kedar border area under Boldia Union in Bhurungamari Upazila, described the matter as suspicious. He said that Miloni Bazar is located some distance away from the actual border line, raising questions about how an alleged Indian robot could have reached the area.
Many locals believe the matter warrants proper investigation.
Commanding Officer of 22 BGB Kurigram, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub Ul Haque, said that the CCTV footage is currently under examination. He added that authorities will confirm whether the video was generated using AI technology or whether the object was indeed an Indian robot after completing their assessment.
