EC Directs Authorities to Prevent Telecom Disruptions During Election
The Election Commission (EC) has issued directives to the relevant authorities to ensure that telecommunication services are not disrupted due to reform or development work during the period of the referendum and the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
In this regard, EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md Shahidul Islam has sent official letters to the secretaries of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the Local Government Division, the Road Transport and Highways Division, and the Power Division.
The letter stated that in view of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum scheduled to be held on February 12, the Election Commission has decided that any highway or road development and reform work during the election period must be carried out in coordination with the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), so that vital transmission links used for telecommunication services are not disconnected.
The Election Commission emphasized that uninterrupted telecommunication connectivity is essential for ensuring smooth election operations, effective coordination, and rapid communication throughout the election period.
