NSDA Provides Tk 10 Million in Technology Equipment to 13 Industry Skills Councils
The National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) has distributed office and technological equipment worth Tk 10 million to 13 Industry Skills Councils (ISCs), in a move aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and making skills development more closely aligned with labor market demands.
The handover ceremony took place on Monday, February 2, at the NSDA conference room, where ISC representatives received laptops and other tools under the Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) Project.
Chief Guest M. Siraj Uddin Mia, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, called on the ISCs to ensure direct industry participation in skills development. He stressed that stronger institutional capacity would enable councils to design demand-driven training programs, raise quality standards, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
Presiding over the event, NSDA Executive Chairman (Secretary) Dr. Nazneen Kauser Chowdhury said the authority is working tirelessly to build a coordinated and sustainable national skills ecosystem. She noted that the provision of modern office and technical equipment would make ISC operations more dynamic and effective, particularly in setting sector-specific standards, developing curricula, and implementing industry-oriented training.
Dr. Nazneen Kauser noted that these measures are essential for ensuring that Bangladesh’s workforce is not only technically competent but also responsive to the evolving demands of the labor market. By institutionalizing industry participation, she said, the NSDA is laying the foundation for a skills system that can drive sustainable employment and long-term economic transformation.
The support package includes desktop and laptop computers, printers, scanners, photocopiers, Wi-Fi routers, multimedia projectors, digital cameras, IPS/UPS units, conference sound systems, and interactive flat panels, among other essential tools.
Representatives from all 13 ISCs, along with NSDA members, directors, and officials, attended the ceremony.
Industry Skills Councils play a critical role in identifying sectoral skill demands, setting standards, and bridging the gap between training providers and employers. By strengthening their capacity, the government aims to ensure that Bangladesh’s workforce is better prepared for the realities of the labor market, thereby advancing both industrial growth and national economic transformation.
