Deep Discounts and Device Deals Dominate Digital Device and Innovation Expo
Buy one mobile phone and get another free; grab a handset priced at Tk 12,999 for just Tk 5,999; or enjoy discounts of up to 25 percent on iPhones—such offers are drawing crowds to the ongoing Digital Device and Innovation Expo at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
On Thursday morning, January 29, a visit to the ground floor of the expo venue—particularly the mobile phone section—felt like stepping into a dedicated mobile handset fair. The mobile zone of the country’s largest information and technology exhibition appeared noticeably more vibrant than other sections, with brands competing fiercely to attract buyers through a wide range of promotional offers. Mobile phones, accessories, and lifestyle products are witnessing brisk sales throughout the expo.
The exhibition features iPhones at discounts of up to 25 percent. Samsung is offering discounts of up to 40 percent on its smartphones and digital devices, with special attraction centered on its much-talked-about tri-fold smartphone. Lenovo is providing cashback offers ranging from Tk 1,000 to Tk 5,000 on all its devices, while Xiaomi is offering price reductions of 5–10 percent across its product lineup, along with guaranteed gifts worth up to Tk 10,000.
DX Group is selling a Xiaomi smartphone originally priced at Tk 12,999 for just Tk 5,999 at the fair. Jannatul Naim, Marketing Lead of the company, said they have arranged extensive offerings for the expo. In addition to smartphones, the company is offering special discounts on TCL-brand LED televisions and electronic motorbikes from two different brands.
The mobile section of the expo also features brands such as Symphony, Honor, Vivo, and newcomer Nubia. Alongside smartphones, visitors can find a wide range of smartwatches, earbuds, headphones, power banks, speakers, and electronic motorbikes from various brands.
Sakib Arafat, Managing Director of TechTime, said his company sold 40 combo packages on the very first day of the expo alone. His stall is also offering iPhones at discounts of up to 25 percent. He expressed optimism about a surge in customer turnout on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, Selextra is offering a free Cloudphone as a gift with Nokia C32 and C22 models, along with several other promotional arrangements.
Honor has introduced its new handset, the Magic 8 Pro, at the expo, which is capable of detecting deepfake videos. The brand is also offering discounts of up to 48 percent on selected models.
Faruk Rahman, Senior Marketing Manager of Honor Bangladesh, said they are highly optimistic about the Magic 8 Pro, adding that the handset represents the spirit of the times.
