Sony Honda Mobility has unveiled a new prototype electric vehicle at the CES 2026 exhibition in Las Vegas. Formed as a joint venture between Sony Group and Honda Motor, the company is moving forward with plans to supply electric vehicles to the US market, according to Reuters.

Sony Honda Mobility Chief Executive Officer Yasuhide Mizuno said the new model, developed based on the Afeela prototype, is expected to reach American consumers by 2028.

He added that customer deliveries of the company’s first electric vehicle, Afeela 1, could begin in California by the end of this year. The model, unveiled last year, carries a starting price of USD 89,900.

Notably, at a time when many US automakers are putting new projects on hold due to declining demand for electric vehicles as well as tariff and policy changes, Sony Honda Mobility’s announcement stood out as a distinctive presence at CES.
