Banglalink Gets Central Bank Nod to Launch Digital Payment Services
Banglalink has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Bangladesh Bank to operate as a Payment Service Provider (PSP), enabling the company to launch its own digital payment services.
The MFS operator obtained the approval on Wednesday, 10 December. Under its digital strategy “DO1440,” Banglalink is now preparing to deliver essential financial and digital services directly to users through an advanced technology-driven platform—maximizing all 1,440 minutes of a customer’s day.
VEON, the global digital service provider and Banglalink’s parent company, considers the central bank approval a significant step toward strengthening digital financial inclusion and promoting a cashless economy in Bangladesh. VEON’s international fintech expertise further reinforces this progress.
With this approval, millions of customers across the country will be able to access a range of digital financial services more securely, quickly, and conveniently from their mobile devices. The authorization also paves the way for next-generation digital payment solutions nationwide.
Banglalink CEO Johan Buse said, “Combining Banglalink’s nationwide reach with VEON’s global capabilities, we are building a secure and inclusive digital payment ecosystem for Bangladesh. We believe easy, safe, and open-access financial services should be available to everyone. This approval strengthens that belief. Following our DO1440 strategy, we aim to turn every minute of the day into an opportunity for people’s progress. Banglalink will continue taking initiatives that simplify life, empower communities, and drive Bangladesh toward a future-ready digital economy.”
Banglalink is working with Bangladesh Bank and various partner organizations to prepare for the commercial launch of its digital payment service.
According to the company, customers will be able to enjoy instant money transfers, remittance services, utility and government bill payments, online purchases and merchant payments, as well as salary disbursements, savings, and insurance premium payments through its upcoming digital payment platform.
