Uber Installs App-Free Ride-Booking Kiosks for Travelers

Uber is rolling out ride-booking kiosks that do not require a mobile app, aiming to help international travelers and users who may face connectivity or battery issues, according to Engadget.

Travelers arriving in a new country often struggle with mobile data access. Others may find their phone battery drained or face issues using the app. Uber’s new kiosk system is designed as an instant solution—allowing users to select their destination and preferred ride type directly from the kiosk. Once a booking is completed, the kiosk prints a receipt containing all ride details.

The first Uber kiosk has been installed at Terminal C of LaGuardia Airport in New York. Uber says more kiosks will be deployed in airports, hotels, and port areas worldwide over the next few months.

The availability of kiosks positions Uber closer to traditional taxi services, as travelers can use them like a dispatcher to choose between rideshare options or yellow cabs—without needing an app.

Uber previously launched a shuttle bus service at LaGuardia in 2024, later expanding it to JFK Airport. The company announced today that the service has also been extended to Newark Liberty International Airport.
