Disney Draws In Former Apple COO Jeff Williams to Join Board
The Walt Disney Company has nominated former Apple executive Jeff Williams as a new independent director for its 2026 annual meeting. Upon approval of the vote, the board will expand to 11 members. The announcement was published in a post on the company’s official website, according to The Verge.
Williams retired earlier this year from his role as Apple’s Chief Operating Officer. Appointed in 2015, he oversaw Apple’s global supply chain, services, support operations, and also supervised the design team. Over his nearly three-decade career at the company, he led the development of the Apple Watch and played a key role in shaping Apple’s health and fitness strategy.
Disney Board Chair James P. Gorman said Williams’ experience in global technology and design would significantly strengthen the company’s creativity and innovation-driven journey. Commenting on the nomination, Williams said that Disney’s long tradition of blending imagination with technology has always inspired him.
At the upcoming annual general meeting, shareholders will vote on the re-election of the current 10 directors along with Williams.
