Induction Course Begins at Postal Academy with Focus on Digital Postal Services
The evening session of the ongoing four-week induction course at the Bangladesh Postal Academy in Rajshahi has commenced, with 54 newly appointed Upazila Postmasters, Post Office Inspectors, and Junior Accountants taking part in the training.
The programme was inaugurated virtually on Tuesday, 9 December, by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology under the Chief Adviser.
Congratulating the trainees, he said in his keynote speech that honesty, efficiency, and an innovative mindset among new officers are crucial to transforming the postal department into a modern, fast, and highly trusted public service institution in the digital era.
Highlighting the importance of the Address Management System (AMS) and the Central Logistics Tracking Platform (CLTP), the Special Assistant said a digitalized AMS would significantly enhance last-mile delivery, tracking accuracy, and overall logistics efficiency. He added that CLTP—an innovation of the postal department—would ensure transparency and accountability in supply chain operations, government financial activities, and parcel management through real-time tracking of parcel movement nationwide.
He further stated that the postal department’s role is rapidly expanding in areas such as digital parcel management, online tracking, e-commerce logistics, digital financial services, remittance, and government allowance disbursement. Achieving the Smart Post Office vision will require maximum use of technology, financial discipline, cybersecurity, punctuality, and strong grievance-handling capacity from postal officials.
Praising the trainees—many of whom hold advanced degrees in Engineering, Agriculture, Business Administration, and various STEM fields—Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said their analytical thinking and technological capability would accelerate the modernization of the postal sector. He expressed the government’s expectation that they would uphold the trust placed in them with responsibility and dedication.
The trainees also presented their insights, experiences, and reflections before the Special Assistant.
Director General of the Postal Directorate, S. M. Shahab Uddin, also joined the ceremony virtually. On-site attendees included Kazi Asadul Islam, Principal of the Postal Academy, Rajshahi, along with trainers and senior officials of the postal department in Rajshahi.
