Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh Frames Engineers as Future Shapers

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Acting Ameer of Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat, Muhammad Nazrul Islam, has said that the future Bangladesh will be a technology-driven and smart nation. To achieve that goal, engineers must not only fulfill their professional duties but also play a pioneering role in every sphere of society.

Speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh, held at the Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat office on the night of September 14, he said, “The people of the country now realize the necessity of honest, competent, and patriotic leadership for the development of society. Over the past 17 years, billions have been looted in the name of infrastructural development. The abnormal siphoning of money abroad from banks has proved that, for those who believe in patriotism and Islamic values, there is no alternative to the candidates under the ‘balance scale’ symbol.”

The meeting was presided over by Engineer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan, President of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh, Chattogram Metropolitan unit. Special guests included Organizing Secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat and former Ward Councillor as well as Jamaat’s nominated candidate for Chattogram-10 constituency, Principal Shamsuzzaman Helali; Central General Secretary of the Forum, Engineer Zainul Abedin; Ameer of Halishahar Thana and Election Director for Chattogram-10 constituency, Fakhrul Jahan Siraji; and Metropolitan Secretary of the Forum, Engineer Nurul Alam.

Jamaat’s nominee for Chattogram-10, Principal Shamsuzzaman Helali, highlighted the crucial role of engineers, saying, “In every sector of development—be it infrastructure, power and energy, information technology, communication systems, or industrialization—the contribution of engineers is immense. To build a prosperous society, engineers have always worked with diverse groups, from workers and owners to contractors and people from all strata. Utilizing this relationship, it is the responsibility of the common people to send competent candidates to Parliament for building a sustainable Chattogram.”

Forum’s Central General Secretary, Engineer Zainul Abedin, stressed the importance of innovation and responsibility. “To transform Bangladesh’s dream into reality, engineers must enhance their skills, invest in research, and advance innovative initiatives. At the same time, because of their patriotism, morality, and social accountability, it is the ethical duty of engineers to stand by honest people,” he said, urging engineers to play a role in supporting Principal Shamsuzzaman Helali in Chattogram-10.

The event was conducted by Engineers Mizbah Uddin, K.M. Ishaq, and Yasin Ahmed. Among others who spoke were former Metropolitan Secretary of the Forum and Ameer of Panchlaish Jamaat, Engineer Mahabubul Hasan Rumi; former Executive Engineer of Chattogram City Corporation, Rezaul Bari; CBF leader Engineer Anwarul Azam Shanto; and Metropolitan Organizing Secretary of the Forum, Engineer Yasin Ahmed.
