Google has dismissed recent reports of a major Gmail security flaw as “completely false.” Several media outlets had claimed that the company had issued urgent alerts to 2.5 billion users, a claim Google has directly refuted, according to Engadget.

The company clarified that while phishing attempts are ongoing, its security systems are designed to block “99.9% of phishing and malware attacks.”

It further noted that a Salesforce-related incident reported in June had already been resolved, with affected users duly notified.

In its advisory, Google encouraged all users to adopt safer password alternatives such as passkeys for enhanced protection.
