Apple Aims at e-SIM: Employees at EU Undergo Intensive Instruction

Apple-authorized retail store employees across the European Union are receiving training on the use of iPhone e-SIMs, sources reveal. The training is scheduled to be completed by September 5, just four days before the official unveiling of the iPhone 17 on September 9, according to GSM Arena.
Industry analysts speculate that starting with the iPhone 17 series, Apple may eliminate physical SIM slots in the European market, offering only e-SIM functionality. A similar change has already been implemented in the United States since the iPhone 14 series.
Details of the training program have been shared through Apple’s internal CD app, which is used globally by Apple Stores and authorized retailers. This has fueled speculation that the removal of physical SIM slots could be a worldwide shift.
