Chattogram Contest Commences World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh Regional 2025
The curtain has risen on this year’s World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh Regional 2025 with the Chattogram regional round, hosted at Chittagong Independent University (CIU). Around 50 participants took part in the opening phase of the competition.
In the Future Innovators Senior Category, the three-member team Maverick Nexus and the two-member team Narratic Nexus were declared winners. In the Future Innovators Junior Category, the three-member team The Innovators and Zeta 2025 secured victory. Meanwhile, in the Robo Mission Junior Category, the three-member team Robo Solver emerged as winners.
A total of 14 teams, including the winning teams, were selected to advance to the national round.
Professor Dr. M. M. Nurul Absar, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong Independent University, announced the winners’ names and distributed the prizes. The Olympiad was jointly organized by World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh (WROBD) and the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN).
For the first time, the competition is being organized at the regional level, enabling students from different cities across the country to participate in their respective regions, from where they will be selected for the national round. Regional competitions are being held in three cities—Chattogram, Dhaka, and Rangpur. The winners of the regional rounds will compete in the national phase, scheduled for September.
This year’s WRO Bangladesh Regional features competitions across several categories, including Future Innovators, Future Engineers, RoboMission, and RoboSports.
The contests are divided into three age divisions: Elementary (8–12 years), Junior (11–15 years), and Senior (14–19 years). At the Chattogram regional round, the Future Innovators Category featured 14 teams—nine in the Senior Division and five in the Junior Division. In RoboMission, two teams participated, one each in the Junior and Senior Divisions. The Future Engineers Category saw participation from two teams in the Senior Division.
The event’s chief guest was Professor Dr. M. M. Nurul Absar, Vice-Chancellor of CIU, while special guests included Dr. Asif Iqbal, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Registrar Anjuman Banu Lima. Also present were mentors, coordinators, and volunteers of WROBD who oversaw the overall arrangements.
The judging panel included Dr. Asif Iqbal, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at CIU; Dr. Rubel Sen Gupta, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Dr. Md. Sazzatul Islam, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Assistant Professor Atikur Rahman; Lecturers Habibur Rahman and Samia Muntaha; Ayman Iktidar; and Associate Professor Saifuddin Munna from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Premier University.
The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2025 will be held in Singapore this November, where Bangladesh’s national team will participate. Since 2020, Bangladesh has been a regular participant in the global Olympiad, achieving success each year. To promote robotics and encourage participation in the Olympiad, a series of activation workshops have also been organized across the country’s eight divisions.
