CIU, BdOSN Collaborate to Champion Robotics Education in Chattogram

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at Chittagong Independent University (CIU) and the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) to promote and expand the World Robot Olympiad-Bangladesh (WROBD).

The MoU signing ceremony was held at the CIU campus, where the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. M M Nurul Absar, was present as the chief guest. Other attendees included Dr. Syed Manzoor Kader, Professor and Dean of CIU Business School; Sharmin Rodriguez, Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; Registrar Anjuman Banu Lima; and Assistant Registrar Ruma Dash.

Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN and WROBD, joined the event virtually.

According to the agreement, a Robotics Learning Center will be established at CIU’s campus. University students will be trained to serve as mentors for school-level students. As part of the agreement, representatives from BdOSN handed over an advanced robotics kit to the School of Science and Engineering, which was received by the Vice Chancellor.

BdOSN will also provide hands-on training to CIU students using an internationally recognized curriculum and experienced instructors.

The regional competitions of WROBD in the Chattogram Division will be hosted at CIU. Using the university’s personnel and infrastructure, local schools and students will be encouraged and trained in robotics, preparing them for participation in national and international competitions.

Professor Dr. Asif Iqbal, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, stated, “This partnership will significantly expand robotics education in the Chattogram region and help prepare the next generation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

The MoU has been formally signed and activated by representatives of both institutions. The initial term of cooperation is two years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
