Fintech Frontiers Explored at JUST National Conference

To promote innovation in financial technology, expand financial inclusion, enhance cybersecurity, and integrate digital transactions into banking services, the Department of Finance and Banking (FB) at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) organized a national conference titled “National Symposium on Blessing of Technological Advancement in the Fintech Industry: Unlocking Innovation, Inclusion and Industry.” The conference was held on Tuesday, June 17, at the university’s central gallery.
The conference brought together students, academicians, researchers, and industry professionals to share insights and develop students’ skills in cutting-edge financial technologies and sustainable digital solutions. Representatives from Asia Bank, the University of Dhaka, and other institutions took part in the sessions.
The event’s chief guest, JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Majid, praised the initiative, saying, “The conference is a commendable platform for students to exchange knowledge, explore scientific ideas, and build lasting friendships. It shapes them into skilled human resources essential for the development of a prosperous Bangladesh. Entrepreneurs have a pivotal role in building a better Bangladesh, and this department must take the lead in nurturing successful entrepreneurs. If these students succeed as entrepreneurs, they will bring great benefit to the country and the nation.”
Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor added, “Your dreams and aspirations must be grand, and you must work hard to achieve them. As long as your dreams remain unfulfilled, keep striving—success will surely follow. Through your success, I believe you will guide this nation in the right direction.”
Asia Bank’s First Vice President of ICT Division, Md. Borhanul Islam, and Professor Dr. H. M. Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Finance at the University of Dhaka, served as keynote speakers and trainers. They presented data-driven insights through slides covering topics such as fintech innovation, financial inclusion strategies, cybersecurity initiatives, and the practical application of digital banking technologies.
Following the initial conference sessions, a poster presentation was held, featuring contributions from FB department students. In the afternoon, a training workshop took place, concluding with a certificate distribution and award ceremony for the poster competition winners at 4:30 PM.
Special guests at the event included JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun and Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Dr. Mohammad Kamal Hossain. Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, the conference convener and Chair of the FB department, also addressed the gathering.
Other faculty members present included Assistant Professor A. H. M. Shahriar, Lecturers Al Amin Biswas, Nishat Rumaly, and Md. Shahanur Rahman, alongside a large number of students. The event was conducted by FB department students Zakaria Habib Jim and Jannatul Ferdous Juli.
