Bohemian Binge: Amitabh Reza’s New Web Series Premieres on Hoichoi

Just ahead of Eid, on Thursday, June 5, celebrated Bangladeshi director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury released his latest web series Bohemian Ghura on the OTT platform Hoichoi. The series unfolds the extraordinary tale of Abbas, an orphaned truck driver whose itinerant career takes him across eight different cities in Bangladesh — each visit culminating in a new marriage and a parallel life.

In each city, Abbas marries a woman who believes she is his one and only. These wives, each with their own distinct personality, social background, and ideological outlook, collectively represent the vibrant cultural spectrum of Bangladesh. Through these diverse female characters, the series paints a dynamic and inclusive portrait of the nation’s multifaceted identity.

The narrative reaches a critical juncture after Abbas’s eighth marriage, as consequences begin to spiral and questions arise: Can Abbas extricate himself from the chaos? Will he ever find peace? These central dilemmas drive the suspense and humor that define the series.

Acclaimed actor Mosharraf Karim stars as Abbas, delivering a spirited performance that combines wit and emotional depth. His portrayal is complemented by the ensemble of eight wives, bringing festive energy to the screen in this seven-episode comedy-drama. The series is produced by Mahzabin Reza Chowdhury and Md. Asaduzzaman Sakal under the Half Stop Down banner.

The female leads are played by Runa Khan, Tanzika Amin, Moushumi Hamid, Sadia Ayman, Farhana Hamid, Robina Reza Jui, and newcomers Asma Ul Husna Brishti and Sarah Zebin Aditi. Supporting roles are performed by Rakib Hossain Evan, Ashok Bepari, Pankaj Majumder, Suman Patowary, and Sayyeda, among others.

As Abbas’s journey takes viewers across the country — from remote northern villages to the bustling urban centers of the south — the series subtly weaves in elements of Bangladesh’s cultural and geographic diversity.

Commenting on the series, director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury said, “Bohemian Ghura is not just a comedic tale of multiple marriages. It is a reflection of Bangladesh’s cultural diversity — where even the remotest village feels the touch of modernity, and people navigate life’s contradictions with humor, resilience, and deep social sensitivity.”
