Breaking away from tradition, Bangladesh’s national budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 will be presented virtually by Economic Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed on Monday, June 2, at 4:00 PM—three days ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha holiday.

Unlike previous years, when the budget was announced on the first Thursday of June in a parliamentary session, this year’s presentation will not take place on the parliament floor. Instead, a pre-recorded speech by the economic adviser will be streamed live on the official website of the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance.

Preparations for this online broadcast have already begun, with test transmissions launched via the ministry’s website on May 31 to ensure seamless streaming. State broadcaster Bangladesh Television (BTV) has been trialing the live telecast interface for the event.

Following approval from the Advisory Council, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed will formally present the budget, after which the President is expected to issue an ordinance to enact it.

According to finance division sources, printed copies of the budget will be distributed from the Press Information Department (PID) located within the Secretariat. In an official press release issued last Thursday, PID confirmed that the new budget announcement will be aired via Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar on the scheduled date and time.

To ensure maximum public outreach, all private television channels and radio stations have been instructed to relay the speech by receiving the feed from BTV.
