State-owned carrier Qatar Airways has announced a net profit of $2.1 billion (7.8 billion Qatari riyals) for the 2025 fiscal year, marking a 28% increase from the previous year, according to a preliminary statement released by the airline on Monday, as reported by Reuters.

Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said, “We have successfully implemented strategic partnerships to navigate various political, economic, and environmental challenges, ensuring our continued stability.”

While the airline has yet to publish a comprehensive report on passenger traffic and overall revenue, Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori previously noted in March that passenger volume rose 9% from April 2024 to January 2025. Notably, the airline saw a 14% increase in Europe and a 12% rise in Germany.

To boost passenger numbers and global reach, Qatar Airways has taken a 25% stake in Virgin Australia and South Africa’s Airlink. In a bold expansion move, the airline recently placed an order with Boeing for 160 widebody aircraft—comprising 777X and 787 models—valued at $96 billion, the largest widebody deal in Boeing’s history.
