MoFA verified Facebook page hacked
The official Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has been hacked. It was found hacked by a Indonesian hackers while visiting this page at Satterday night. They took control of the page and ran live gambling campaigns from there. Later, the page was closed around 8:30 pm.
The hackers were promoting the Facebook page in the Indonesian language 'Bahasa'. However, ministry officials believe that Bahasa was used to hide the hackers' real identity. The official Facebook page was down at 9:50 pm at the time of writing this report.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested everyone not to believe any messages posted or shared from this page until the page is fully recovered. In the interim, the Ministry's information will be communicated through other verified platforms such as the official website and press releases.
At the same time, it has also been urged not to share any posts from this page. A notification sent by the ministry on Saturday night further said that some inappropriate content was shared on this page without proper approval for some time. The matter is being looked into seriously. This page serves as the most popular social media platform for the regular dissemination of important information of the ministry.
The page is currently under maintenance. The matter is being investigated to prevent recurrence of such unpleasant incidents in the future. Necessary measures are also being taken to strengthen security measures in this regard.
