Transmission Price Drop by NTTN Operator Bahon Limited

The private sector Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN) operator, Bahon Limited, has announced a reduction in the prices of internet transmission and connectivity services.

This decision was made in response to the request of Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.

In a press release, Bahon stated that domestic transmission services will see a price reduction of at least 10%. In some areas, depending on the scope of the transmission network, the price cut will exceed 10%.

Rashed Amin, Chief Operating Officer of Bahon Limited, mentioned that the government aims to provide quality internet services to the public at affordable prices. As a result, the cost of internet services for consumers will significantly decrease.

In addition to the price reduction, Bahon has also called for the removal of the "floor price" for NTTN services.

Rashed Amin further stated that to make the internet more affordable for users, the floor price should be removed. Bahon has previously sent a letter to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) regarding the removal of the floor price. Bahon believes that removing the floor price will allow transmission costs for NTTN to be reduced by more than 10% in many areas.

On April 21, an NTTN operator announced a price reduction in various stages of internet transmission, urging other telecom operators to also lower their costs.
