Huawei Heralds High-Performance AI Chip Launch Amid U.S. Curbs

Chinese tech giant Huawei is set to begin large-scale deliveries of its advanced AI chip, the Ascend 910C, as early as next month, according to sources cited by Reuters.

The Ascend 910C is reportedly built by combining two 910B processors, delivering performance comparable to Nvidia’s H100 chip. This new design effectively doubles both computing power and memory capacity.

Amid U.S. export restrictions on Nvidia’s H20 chips, Chinese AI firms are increasingly seeking domestic alternatives. In this context, Huawei’s 910C chip is emerging as a crucial component for China’s AI ambitions.

While Huawei declined to comment on the chip, industry experts believe the 910C is rapidly gaining traction as a viable substitute for Nvidia in China’s AI ecosystem.

The chip is manufactured using a 7-nanometer process developed by China’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), although current production yields remain relatively low.
