Five-Tier Security for National Eidgah Prayers with Hundreds of CC Cameras
A comprehensive five-tier security arrangement will be in place at the National Eidgah grounds to ensure safety during Eid prayers. Archways and metal detectors will be installed for screening, while the entire Eidgah area and its surroundings will be under CCTV surveillance. Nearly 100 cameras have been installed, which will be monitored continuously from a control room.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali shared these details while speaking to journalists on Sunday (March 30) after inspecting the security arrangements at the National Eidgah.
He further stated that security checkpoints with archways and metal detectors would be set up at the entry points of three main roads leading to the Eidgah—Matsya Bhaban, Press Club, and Shiksha Bhaban. Separate prayer arrangements, entry gates, and dedicated security measures will be in place for women.
The DMP Commissioner advised worshippers to immediately report any suspicious activity to nearby police officers or contact the police control room or emergency helpline 999 if needed.
Addressing a question regarding discussions on social media about the ruling party’s alleged activities surrounding Eid, Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali stated, "We remain vigilant at all times. It is not about the Awami League specifically, but we are particularly cautious to prevent any activities by all banned political groups."
