OpenAI Unveils “Deep Research” for Advanced AI Analysis

Leading artificial intelligence company OpenAI has launched a new AI tool called “Deep Research.” Introduced on Sunday, the tool is designed to assist in complex research tasks and conduct multi-layered analysis across the internet, according to a report by Reuters.

OpenAI stated that “Deep Research” is powered by a specialized version of its upcoming OpenAI O3 model, which excels in web browsing and data analysis. When given a specific instruction, OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, will gather, analyze, and summarize information from various online sources, generating a comprehensive report similar to that of a research analyst.

According to the company, this tool can accomplish tasks in mere minutes that would otherwise take a human researcher several hours. However, OpenAI acknowledged that the tool is still in its early stages and has certain limitations. It may occasionally struggle to differentiate between credible sources and misinformation and may exhibit weaknesses in conveying uncertainty.

The web version of “Deep Research” was made available on Sunday, with plans to integrate it into mobile and desktop applications by February, OpenAI confirmed.

Notably, this is OpenAI’s second AI agent released this year. In January, the company introduced another tool named “Operator,” capable of performing various tasks, from creating to-do lists to planning trips.
