Amazon’s Aerial Ambitions Halted: Drone Deliveries on Hold
Amazon has temporarily suspended its drone delivery trials in the United States. According to a Bloomberg report, this decision follows two recent drone accidents in Pendleton, Oregon.
Bloomberg states that in December, two of Amazon’s drones crashed while undergoing trial flights in rainy weather. Prior to this, in September, a collision occurred when operators mistakenly launched two drones simultaneously while reviewing multiple propeller failures.
Amazon announced that it will suspend its commercial drone delivery operations in Texas and Arizona until the software updates are implemented.
The Prime Air project has faced numerous challenges since its inception, including the resignation of key executives and repeated failures during trial operations.
In April, Amazon had also halted its drone delivery operations in California. However, the company is planning to expand its drone delivery trials abroad.
