AI Enthusiasts Compete in 36-Hour Hackathon to Drive Innovation

AI professionals are continuously exploring ways to accelerate success through artificial intelligence. In this effort, a 36-hour AI hackathon was held in Banani, Dhaka, on January 25-26, bringing together top university students and software engineers to showcase their AI-driven solutions.

Participants tackled diverse challenges, including SIEM security intelligence using generative AI, virtual workspaces for remote jobs, and AI-powered security monitoring tools.

Among the groundbreaking innovations, Team “Poridhi” secured first place with their solution to enhance system reliability using eBPF and AI agents. The team, consisting of two professional software engineers and two students, won a cash prize of BDT 200,000. The members were Tahnick Ahmed Rayyan (team leader), Abdullah Al Asif, Abdur Rahman, and Raihan Islam.

The runner-up position went to Team “Define Coders”, who developed “Market Flick AI”, a solution for accurate and rapid market analysis using AI. Their innovation earned them BDT 100,000.

Additionally, Team “Codementor” received an Honorable Mention for their “Personalized Teaching Assistant for Coding”, which successfully solved real-time problems within the 36-hour challenge.

The Vivasoft AI Hackathon 2025, organized by local software development firm Vivasoft Limited, attracted 378 applicants, from which 10 teams comprising 32 participants were selected for the final round.

The judging panel featured industry leaders, including Imtiaz Ilahi (Managing Director, Hogarth Worldwide Bangladesh), Nabil Ahmed Lipon (Vice President, Software Development, bKash Limited), Shubhro Sarker (Vice President, Research & Engineering, bKash Limited), and Aminul Islam (Machine Learning Consultant, Vivasoft Limited).

Shafqat Asif, Co-founder of Vivasoft Limited, emphasized the importance of the competition in showcasing Bangladesh’s AI talent on the global stage. He stated, “Vivasoft Limited is committed to taking Bangladesh’s tech sector to a world-class level and fostering innovation. ‘Vivasoft AI Hackathon 2025’ is a crucial step toward achieving that goal.”

He also mentioned that, based on the response from AI professionals, Vivasoft plans to organize the AI hackathon annually.

The hackathon registration was open from November to December 2024, with 378 applications received. After an initial selection, 35 teams advanced to the second round, featuring AI professionals, developers, university students, recent graduates, startups, and innovators.
