Centralized Digital Database to Connect Job Seekers
Employment Exchange Center to Launch This December
- Centralized digital database to cover all unemployed youth nationwide
- Ministry of Labour launches pilot project in nineteen primary districts
- Higher education job fairs will directly feed data into the platform
In a landmark step toward tackling youth unemployment and establishing a tech-driven bridge between skilled human resources and industries, the government is set to launch the 'Employment Exchange Center' pilot project this December. Serving as a structural framework to fulfill the national mandate of creating 10 million jobs, the initiative features a centralized digital database covering all unemployed individuals across the nation to streamline labor market planning.
According to sources at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the center’s headquarters will be established in Dhaka, complemented by regional offices across 19 traditional districts to ensure seamless service delivery for grassroots job seekers. The draft framework for the initiative has been finalized by the designated committee and submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office for ultimate approval.
The Employment Exchange Center will offer technical and modern skills training tailored to match both domestic and international industry demands. By bridging technical gaps, the platform's automated matching engine will enable industries to source qualified personnel while connecting candidates to public, private, and global job markets.
Under the organizational framework, regional hubs will operate in Dhaka, Faridpur, Mymensingh, Tangail, Chattogram, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chittagong Hill Tracts, Sylhet, Barishal, Patuakhali, Khulna, Jashore, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Dinajpur, and Rangpur. The government will fully fund the IT infrastructure, national employment database, training modules, and portal maintenance. Key partners include the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare, Ministry of Youth and Sports, BIDA, Bangladesh Bank, and various domestic and international job portals.
Highlighting the launch strategy, Minister for Labour and Employment Ariful Haque Choudhury stated that the Employment Exchange Center will officially launch in December to guarantee structured job placements for the unemployed. He noted that comprehensive candidate profiles will be onboarded via job and career fairs held across colleges and universities nationwide, while an integrated online and offline database will map industry labor requirements, creating a direct connection between job seekers and employers.
