YouTube Unveils New AI Features to Personalise Video Experience
YouTube has announced several new features designed to make video viewing more personalised and technology-driven. At its annual ‘Made on YouTube’ event, the company said users will now be able to create customised video feeds based on their preferences using artificial intelligence (AI) prompts. This will allow content on fitness, documentaries or specific topics to be organised easily into separate tabs.
The platform is also introducing a feature that allows creators to publish episodic content in the Shorts format, enabling videos to be arranged sequentially. The new option is expected to create a different experience for fans of microdramas and short-form series.
GIFs and Voice Input in Comments
To encourage greater social interaction, YouTube’s mobile app will introduce a searchable GIF library in the comments section, allowing users to express themselves through animated images instead of relying solely on text.
On smart TVs, users will also be able to post comments directly by speaking, using text-to-speech technology.
Meanwhile, YouTube has strengthened its ‘Ask YouTube’ and shopping features. Users will be able to ask the chatbot about the prices and comparative information of clothing and other products shown or worn in videos.
New Technology for Music and Live Dubbing
Alongside video, YouTube Music and its podcast service are also receiving generative AI features such as ‘Ask Music’ and ‘Podcast Lineup’. These tools will allow users to obtain information about musicians and listen to automatically generated preview summaries of their favourite weekly podcasts.
For international users, the platform is also planning to introduce real-time automated dubbing during live video broadcasts in early 2027.
Analysts believe these wide-ranging technological developments will further strengthen YouTube’s position in content creation, distribution and communication.
