Apple Sets September 9 for Unveiling Its First Foldable iPhone

US technology giant Apple will hold its much-anticipated annual event on September 9. The company officially announced the schedule for the event last Wednesday.

The major technology event will take place at 10:00 a.m. local time at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. This year’s event has been given the tagline ‘Surprise and Shine’.

Ending months of speculation, technology analysts believe Apple could use the event to unveil its first foldable iPhone.

New Leadership and Changes to the iPhone Lineup

The event is expected to mark the beginning of a new era in Apple’s history, as it will be the first such event led by John Ternus as the company’s chief executive officer (CEO). He is scheduled to formally take over the position from longtime CEO Tim Cook on September 1. As a result, the event has generated additional interest among technology enthusiasts as the first major Apple event under its new top executive.

Apple is strongly expected to unveil the flagship ‘iPhone 18 Pro’ and ‘iPhone 18 Pro Max’ at the event. Rather than introducing major external design changes, the company is reportedly focusing more on improving their internal capabilities.

Meanwhile, Apple plans to delay the launch of the standard ‘iPhone 18’ model until next year instead of releasing it this year.

Smart Devices and Software Updates

Alongside the new smartphones, Apple is expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 and new versions of the Apple Watch Ultra as part of its wearable-device lineup. The company may also unveil several new smart-home devices as it seeks to further modernise home technology.

The event will not be limited to new hardware. Apple is also expected to announce the final release dates for upcoming versions of its operating systems, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and ‘macOS Golden Gate’, along with other software updates.
