Bangladesh Delegation Visits Estonia to Enhance Digital Public Services
- Bangladeshi delegation completed a study visit to Estonia for digital governance
- Focus was on One-ID implementation and secure data exchange models
A high-level delegation from Bangladesh completed a study visit to Estonia from August 10–13, 2026, to explore implementing a single trusted digital identity and interoperability for simpler and safer public services.
The delegation comprised representatives from the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Bangladesh Election Commission Secretariat, and the Local Government Division. The visit focused on identity management and Estonia's 'One-ID' principle in digital governance.
Md Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Secretary of the ICT Division, emphasized that combining a trusted single national identity with secure data exchange will make Bangladesh's public services more accessible and efficient. The study tour covered the complete lifecycle of identity management, birth and death registration, data protection, and National Responsible Data Exchange (NRDEX).
Organized by the e-Governance Academy (eGA) alongside Bangladesh's Cabinet and ICT Divisions, the visit was part of the EU Global Gateway-supported "E-ffective e-Governance" project aimed at modernizing public administration.
