JUST and USS Partner to Protect Aquatic Biodiversity

Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) and non-governmental development organization 'Ulashi Srijony Sangha (USS)' signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly work on conserving open-water fisheries resources, sanctuary management, and aquatic biodiversity. The bilateral agreement was formally executed at the administrative building's conference room, according to relevant sources on August 23, 2026, Sunday.

JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Yarul Kabir and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan were present at the signing ceremony. The agreement was signed by JUST Treasurer Professor Md. Faruque Hossain on behalf of the university, and Executive Director Khondokar Azizul Hoque Moni on behalf of Ulashi Srijony Sangha.

Under this MoU, the Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience at JUST and USS will collaborate on joint research, technology-driven field activities, and sanctuary management to improve indigenous fisheries resources and preserve aquatic biodiversity.

The event was also attended by Chairman of JUST Fisheries and Marine Bioscience Department Professor Md. Aminur Rahman, Professor Md. Sirajul Islam, and USS Program Coordinator Naznin Sultana Jeni.

Representatives from both organizations expressed optimism that this initiative will play a vital role in protecting Bangladesh's open-water fisheries resources and promoting sustainable environmental development, according to relevant sources on August 23, 2026, Sunday.
