Fraud Alert: BCC Warns Against Fake IT Training Letters and Extortion Scams
Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) issues an urgent warning against fraudulent letters circulating under the forged signature of its Director of Training, offering fake computer courses to extort money.
A fraudulent circle is attempting to extort money by misusing the name, title, and forged signatures of the Director (Training & Development) of the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC)
According to the official statement of 21 July, Tuesday, a scam group has been circulating fake letters, notices, and forged documents under a phony project titled "Modernization of Urban and Rural Life in Bangladesh through Information Technology"
The fake letter, dated June 28, 2026, bearing the forged name of Director Md. Mahbub Karim, claims that a 'Computer Office Application Training Course' will be held in 520 secondary schools across 104 upazilas
In response, BCC explicitly clarified that all official training programs and associated transactions are strictly executed through authorized official procedures
The council strongly advises all stakeholders to refrain from any financial transactions regarding such unauthorized activities. BCC also categorically stated that it will not bear any responsibility for financial losses resulting from transactions made with unauthorized individuals or entities.
