Grameenphone Limited reported a total revenue of BDT 3,982 crore for the second quarter of 2026, marking a 3.0% decrease compared to the same period last year, primarily driven by a challenging macroeconomic environment. At the end of Q2, the company's total subscriber base stood at 86.3 million (8 crore 63 lakh), with 61.1% or 52.7 million (5 crore 27 lakh) customers utilizing mobile internet services.

Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grameenphone Limited, stated, “Despite heavy investments and a challenging business environment, we managed to maintain a satisfactory EBITDA margin of around 58%, reflecting our continuous cost control and operational efficiency. During this quarter, we completed the rollout of the 700 MHz spectrum across more than 1,000 sites nationwide and are already witnessing its initial positive benefits.” He also noted that Grameenphone successfully handled record-breaking data traffic during the Argentina vs. Austria match of the FIFA World Cup, managing more than double the usual traffic seamlessly.

Regarding digital safety and corporate solutions, the CEO added, “Through our partnership with UNICEF, we supported the integration of online safety education into the national curriculum. Furthermore, keeping in mind the growing demand for cyber security services, we launched solutions like 'GP Shield', reflecting our ongoing efforts to strengthen our digital security portfolio.” He emphasized utilizing AI, automation, and digital transformation for future efficiency.

Otto Magne Risbak, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Grameenphone, commented, “We are encouraged by the revenue trends this quarter, with a 6% sequential growth compared to the previous quarter. However, it decreased by 3% year-on-year because the corresponding quarter last year had a higher revenue base due to the celebration of two Eids. Inflation remains high at around 9.2%, but despite continuous investments in both network and IT, our total expenses increased by only 1.8% compared to last year.” He also highlighted that Net Profit After Tax (NPAT) has improved compared to the previous three quarters.

On shareholder returns, the CFO announced that in line with their commitment to delivering attractive returns, the Board of Directors declared an interim dividend of BDT 10.50 per share for the first half of 2026, representing a 100% payout ratio. This is well-supported by strong cash flows and a debt-free balance sheet.
