US-Bangla Airlines, a renowned private airline in the country, has expressed its keen interest in launching Hajj flights at a significantly lower cost starting from next year, i.e., 2027. The airline has proposed a net fare of just BDT 98,000 per pilgrim.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun, Managing Director (MD) of US-Bangla Airlines, submitted this proposal via a formal letter sent to the Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Tuesday (July 14). According to ministry sources, US-Bangla Airlines stated in the letter that they are fully prepared to operate flights in the upcoming season adhering to all conditions required for Hajj flight operations.

However, taxes, charges, and agency commissions are not included in the proposed net fare of BDT 98,000. This initiative is expected to create an opportunity for devout Muslims in the country to perform Hajj at a relatively lower cost.

In the letter, US-Bangla Airlines also noted that alongside Saudi Arabia's state carrier Saudia, their private airline Flynas is also transporting passengers. Currently, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Saudia, and Flynas carry Hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh.

According to ministry sources, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has proposed an airfare of BDT 1,42,306 for next year's Hajj, though the final fare has not yet been determined. In the previous season, a major portion of the Hajj package was the airfare, which stood at BDT 1,54,830. Compared to that, US-Bangla's proposed fare is remarkably lower.
